Light Bulbs: What's the Scoop

Starting in 2012 the National government is phasing out inefficient incandescent light bulbs.  Before you purchase new bulbs try and make a plan for what you want.  Do you want dimmable lights for your bedroom?  Previously we purchased bulbs according to wattage but now it is better to think of brightness by comparing lumens.  If you need to replace a 100 watt incandescent, you will get the same amount of light with most 23-watt CFLs.  They both produce about 1600 lumens.

Portland General Electric offers a Light Bulb Comparison Chart.
