NW Natural 2012 Street of Dreams located in West Linn
8-1-2012
If you have a chance to visit the Street of Dreams, located in West Linn, Oregon you are in for a treat because these new beautifully magnificent homes are all on 10-15,000 square foot lots and boast between 4-5000 square feet of living space. This exceptional homes are very realistic with what consumers are facing in today's new home market so it's neat to see how these builders are able to maximize the space they have on the lot to build these homes.
The first home, the Montauk built by Delahunt Homes, Inc. boasts an incredible large concave tiled pass through shower with no steps, and no doors.
The second home, The Calistoga built by Pahlisch Homes, Inc. features a very unique pantry off the kitchen that is open to a mud room just off the garage. Also in this pantry is a second fridge. The idea is to bring the groceries in from the garage and set them right on the pantry counters where they can be then put into cabinets or the second fridge for storage. Very functional and efficient for today's shopper.
The third home, the Oregon Dream built by Stone Bridge Homes NW features a very contemporary feel that makes use of two huge pass through doors off the dining room and kitchen nook. You can literally throw a baseball from one side yard, through the house, and to the other side yard. Very nice and open for hot summer days of entertaining.
The fourth home, the Da Vinci built by Hutchinson Home Builders, featured a touch facet in the kitchen. If your hands are filthy simply touch the outside of the faucet with the back of your hand and it turns on. This home was very grand indeed without being over the top. The varying ceiling heights and unique wall scape made for a very cozy and warm home.
The fifth home, Mystic Ridge built by J.T. Smith Companies, was a modern home with no fireplace in the great room. The center piece in the great room was an enormous flat screen television. Although many might not like the focal point of the great room to be a television let's be honest that is what most people do in their homes when they hang out. Not many people crank up the gas fireplace and then sit by the fire enjoying the quiet every time they walk through the door. This was the only home with an elevator that went down to the Mother-in-law suite.
The sixth home, Rivendell Manor built by BC Custom Homes, had a very Bavarian castle feel to it. In addition to the incredible curb appeal of a wrap around driveway, this home had a separate cottage in the backyard that was staged as an artists getaway, but more functionally is a separate guest cottage with a full studio. Another terrific feature in the shower of the master bedroom was a jetted foot bath station. This home is the only home that was already sold according to the Street of Dreams.
The seventh home, 20/20 built by Bernard Custom Construction, was a very modern contemporary home that had a unique fourth garage separated from the other three garages. The fourth garage was on the main floor level facing front while the other three garages were a part of the side daylight basement. The idea was for the shopper in the household to be able to pull into the garage and unload the groceries into the kitchen. This home had a lot of quirkiness to it and was the only home with nothing featured in the backyard.
Overall the items that stood out for this year's Street of Dreams when comparing previous years were butcher block countertops, dark themed 70's brown trim colors, varying ceiling heights and shapes, spacious but not over the top great rooms, curves and arches, alcoves and inlets in the walls for artwork, furniture and statues and to give an overall warm feel, elegant and grand feel, huge pass through folding or sliding glass doors to the outdoor living, more contemporary style homes than usual. Some of the really cool features were fridge in the pantry, pass through openings to the pantry countertops, brilliant glass tile walls, foot bath station, how the builders made use of small lots like courtyards on the side yard which also was a second outdoor living area, basketball court, waterfalls, TV/bonus rooms ready to accommodate multiple kids for Xbox connect on one TV, internet, TV, or movies on a second TV and movies on the third TV with incredible bars and lounging areas. Impeccable Trex decking and railings, double sink kitchens and wonderful use of varying ceiling heights walls.
