Property Tax Statements in Oregon

10-22-2011

In October of every year, Oregonians receive their tax statements based on the assessed value of their homes. Many people in Oregon see their property values have decreased but wonder why their property tax assessments have also not dropped. In the state of Oregon the property tax assessments can increase up to 3% every single year. Also if your specific region or city voted for levies and bonds your tax statement would increase to reflect the new voter assessments. If you feel that your property taxes are too high you can appeal. If you are wanting to file an appeal the deadline is December 31st. To get further information about your property taxes in Oregon read this article from the Oregon Department of Revenue here.
